On October 28–29, 2025, Košice became a vibrant hub for inclusive education in Slovakia.
The Access Centre of the Technical University in Košice organized a two-day seminar for Slovak teachers and school advisors, focusing on one essential mission: strengthening support for students with special needs in higher education and preparing secondary school pupils with special educational needs for a successful transition to university.
Over the course of two inspiring days, the seminar gathered 52 participants, representing a rich and diverse educational ecosystem:
-
34 representatives from Slovak universities
-
4 representatives from the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of Slovakia
-
4 inclusion teachers and advisors from secondary schools
-
2 experts from private advisory centres
-
8 representatives from non-governmental organizations
The atmosphere was energetic and highly interactive, driven by live discussions with the audience and an authentic spirit of collaboration. Presentations centered on inclusive education, showcasing concrete methods and real-life examples of good practice that participants could directly relate to their daily professional work.
Among the most impactful presentations were:
-

This session offered valuable insights into the results of recent research exploring how university teachers perceive diversity and inclusion within technical higher education. -
“Inclusive Step to Students while Preparing Accessible Documents”

This presentation highlighted the Design2Freedom (D2F) methodology through a concrete case study. The response from participants was remarkably positive, leading to several offers of cooperation with the D2F team and paving the way for the organization of D2F multiplier events in 2026.
Beyond the formal sessions, the seminar clearly demonstrated that inclusive education is no longer just a theoretical ambition — it is a living, evolving practice powered by dialogue, innovation, and shared commitment.
